Undergraduate Courses

Foundations of Entrepreneurship (ENTR 321)

This course introduces you to the many facets of entrepreneurship and uncovers the entrepreneurial process. Learn the concepts, skills and alternatives relevant for identifying and evaluating ideas that can become an exploitable business opportunity. By exposing you to a variety of concepts to initiate creative problem-solving abilities and the importance of opportunity identification and evaluation, the course lays the foundation for other entrepreneurial focused courses. Learn about entrepreneurship and innovation in organizations of all sizes and how the trend toward high innovation affects businesses globally. Discover the business and personal challenges of entrepreneurship and the career potential of entrepreneurial business.

Market Research (MRKT 345)

This course introduces you to methods and principles of investigation and analysis used in making marketing decisions. Plan and propose studies, gather and analyze data and report results.

Managing Diversity in Organizations (MNGT 365)

Discover diversity competence skill development techniques, strategies and best practices for organizational effectiveness. You learn ways to maximize the power of a diverse workforce and address the issue of effective management of pluralistic perspectives and the impact of diversity on organizational climate and productivity.

Negotiating and Conflict Management (MNGT 412)

Management in organizational settings requires skillful negotiation. In this course, you develop a set of useful negotiation skills and strategies. Through a series of negotiation simulations and debriefings, you learn to identify different types of conflict situations; employ appropriate, purposeful negotiation techniques; and evaluate negotiated outcomes.

Identifying and Exploring Entrepreneurial Opportunities (ENTR 421)

Learn how to initiative the entrepreneurial process and increase your ability to recognize or create opportunities for entrepreneurial endeavors. In this course, you learn how to formulate an argument to support your idea and critically analyze others’ ideas. Through a variety of hands-on methods, you enhance your critical thinking and practical business skills. Core learning methods include case study analysis and exposure to thought leadership in the field.

Managing Rapid Growth and Change in Organizations (ENTR 422)

In this course, you discover the financial, human resource, operations and marketing issues facing entrepreneurs whose businesses are confronted with significant growth. You learn change management concepts targeted towards managing an organization in extremely turbulent times. This course prepares you to work in fast-growth firms, whether starting your own business or joining an established fast-growth firm.

Business Plan Development and Decision Making (ENTR 423)

Learn how to put together a business plan by moving your ideas from concept to business with a variety of tools. Engage in exercises to help you think critically and in a non-linear way about your business idea, including building your own marketing web sites. Use mind mapping and story boarding to work through your ideas. Through evolving and changing your ideas, you learn a process that can be used to build a new business or help an existing organization launch a new idea, service or product line.

Talent Acquisition and Staffing (MNGT 464)

This course explains the process by which organizations forecast employment needs, recruit potential employees, select high potential candidates from applicant pools, assess job performance levels, give feedback, train and develop existing employees, and deal with voluntary and involuntary turnover. You will be provided with examples of tools used by HR professionals in the staffing process. You will evaluate and suggest improvements to real HR recruiting and selection systems based on the information learned in the classroom.

Entrepreneurship Minor

Learn how to create successful businesses based on the expertise developed in your major. Two available tracks allow you to tailor the minor according to your experience in business coursework. The track for business majors emphasizes core entrepreneurship courses, and the track for non-business majors offers an interdisciplinary focus on communication, geopolitical and cultural diversity and personal development.

Initiating and Managing Entrepreneurial Growth (ENTR 821)

This course focuses on initiating the entrepreneurial process. You are exposed to a variety of tactics aimed to increase your ability to recognize or create opportunities for entrepreneurial endeavors.
