College of Business faculty earn awards

College of Business faculty, staff and students recognized for recent achievements include Mark Barrera, Dr. Brian Baugh, Emily Bergen, Susan Berke, Paula Caldwell, Tracy Farrell, Kevin Flint, Kerri Hiatt, Sheri Irwin-Gish, Dr. Rachel Larson, Laura Niles, Tyrell Ross, Kimberly Smith and Lori Sorto.
 

  • Dr. Brian Baugh, assistant professor of finance, co-authored a recent study showing that the more time between Social Security checks being issued and bills being due, the more likely a recipient is to have a financial shortfall. An article on the research appeared May 7 on CNBC.com.
  • Eleven College of Business staff members earned the College of Business Strengths Leaders certificates. Honored at the college’s staff meeting on June 21, the staff members completed all five modules of the Start Strong Strengths Academy. As a strengths leader, they are recognized for their awareness of their own talents as well as talents of those they work with and their commitment to building a positive, strengths-based workplace culture. Staff members recognized were Mark Barrera, Emily Bergen, Susan Berke, Paula Caldwell, Kerri Hiatt, Sheri Irwin-Gish, Dr. Rachel Larson, Laura Niles, Tyrell Ross, Kimberly Smith and Lori Sorto.
  • Two recent MBA@Nebraska graduates –Tracy Farrell of Bend, Oregon, and Kevin Flint of Broadway, Virginia – were named as part of Poets & Quants Best and Brightest Online MBAs for the class of 2018. As part of the honor, P&Q profiled Farrell and Flint.
