New Business Core Curriculum
Nebraska Business launched an innovative core curriculum for its business majors, starting with the incoming class of fall 2025, equipping students with foundational business knowledge, skills and experiences needed to lead the future of business. The curriculum offers a seamless, transformative journey, anchored by hands-on learning from first semester to the capstone course. These "bookends" of signature student experiences spark curiosity early and culminate in the proficiency of business concepts and professional readiness.
What makes our curriculum unique is its integration of hands-on learning, corporate involvement and peer-to-peer mentorship from day one. You'll also be able to build your community quicker as you take your first three cohort business classes — where you'll learn more about business, discover your top talents and find a career you're passionate about — with the same group of students.

Signature Experiences
First-Year Competition With Business Coaches
In Introduction to Business (MNGT 101), first-year students explore business majors, develop foundational problem-solving skills and participate in your first real-world business solution competition. Each student is supported by a student coach and a business professional guiding you through the team-based competition as your business coach. This hands-on, team-based approach builds your confidence as you learn to navigate the complexities of business communication, analysis and presentation.
Capstone With Corporate Mentors
By the time you reach the capstone course (MNGT 475), you'll have the confidence and competence to excel on a semester-long corporate project, showcase your career readiness and demonstrate your ability to lead the future of business. You'll collaborate on your team project with a mentor from the business who has a real-world issue for Huskers to examine.

LEARN ABOUT BUSINESS: Explore the different disciplines within business while learning about business majors available to you at Nebraska. Practice foundational problem-solving skills you’ll use in your business education and future career. Compete in your first business solution competition. You’ll be mentored by a student coach and a professional serving as a business coach.

DISCOVER YOUR TOP TALENTS: Learn how to develop and apply your strengths for success in college and beyond. After identifying your top talents through the CliftonStrengths assessment, learn how to leverage your strengths for specific outcomes including academics, major and career awareness, and engagement and well-being in college. You’ll also receive one-on-one coaching sessions from a trained student strengths coach.

Career Development & Planning
BSAD 222
START PREPARING FOR YOUR CAREER: Develop your career goals and craft your résumé. In this course, you will dive into the career exploration and decision-making process to ensure your path in business aligns with your interests, skills and values. Be empowered to effectively articulate your experiences and skills after developing a professional résumé in a one-on-one coaching session with a peer career coach and participating in a practice networking event.
