Mission & Vision

Our goal is to unlock the potential of arthropods as a source of knowledge and inspiration for addressing local and global challenges by building a community and collaborative infrastructure around arthropod innovation.

How does CAREMI Work?

CAREMI exists in an interconnected web. At the center of that web are the 3 main Research Hives: Arthropods (A), Materials (M), and Humans (H). Extending out from the hives is the connecting Substrate upon which the community Infrastructure (I) is built. Connecting it all to society broadly are the Anchors: Engagement (E).

Why Arthropods?

Arthropods encompass the largest and most diverse animal phylum on the planet, making up >80% of animal life on earth. They have evolved successful strategies to survive and thrive in nearly every environment on earth, yet they are not being effectively leveraged in the discovery of novel solutions to address global challenges.
