Science Slam is a campus-wide contest where graduate and undergraduate researchers from ALL SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINES are challenged to communicate their work in short, dynamic, and engaging presentations, with a winner to be decided by the audience. Nebraska MRSEC welcomes Attabey Rodríguez Benítez, a.k.a. "Science Bey," as the keynote speaker and emcee for this year’s Slam!
The schedule for the Science Slam is as follows:
6:00pm – 7:00pm Keynote talk by Science Bey
7:00pm – 8:00pm Science Slam competition
Dr. Attabey Rodríguez Benítez, Ph.D. (she/her/ella) is a biochemist, multimedia content creator, science writer, and editor. She completed her Ph.D. in Chemical Biology at the University of Michigan and was a 2020 AAAS Mass Media Fellow at Science Friday. Now, she is the newest writer and editor for the YouTube show SciShow where she shapes the channel's content. She has written articles from multiples outlets like ACS Central Science, CellPress, Massive Science, and Science Friday. You can find her on Instagram and Twitter as ScienceBey, where she shares content related to the science behind nature, science communication, and graduate life.

Nicole Fiore is a graduate student in the School of Biological Sciences. In her Slam talk, she will ask: "Are Aliens Hiding Behind a Cracker Barrel in Nebraska?"
Juliana
Juliana Bukoski is a newly minted Ph.D. in the Department of Mathematics. In her Slam talk, she'll regale us with "Clocks, Chords, and Roots of Unity: A Love Song to Mathematics."
Pallabi
Pallabi Kundu is a graduate student in the School of Biological Sciences. In her Slam talk, she will discuss "How and Why I am Here? The Proximate and Ultimate Causes!"
