September 8-14, 2025 Summary

Temperature 

Temperatures in the majority of the region were above normal. The highest temperatures were 8°F to 10°F above normal in central and northwestern Nebraska, southern and scattered parts of northern South Dakota, eastern Colorado, and western North Dakota. The lowest temperatures were 8°F to 10°F below normal in eastern North Dakota. 

Southwestern South Dakota, eastern Colorado, and scattered parts of western North Dakota reached temperatures greater than 10°F above normal. The hottest temperature was 89°F at Goodland, Kansas, which is 7°F above normal for the area. The lowest temperatures were in central Colorado and eastern North Dakota reaching 6°F to 8°F below normal. 

Temperatures in eastern North Dakota and western Kansas reached 6°F to 8°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 41°F at Laramie, Wyoming, which is 4°F above normal for the area, and at Alamosa, Colorado, which is 2°F above normal for the area. The highest temperatures were across central South Dakota, and southwestern and northcentral North Dakota reached temperatures greater than 10°F above normal.

Precipitation 

Precipitation amounts varied in the region, ranging from 2 percent of normal in central Wyoming, central Kansas, northeastern Nebraska, eastern and southwestern South Dakota, and across central North Dakota to 800 percent of normal in northern South Dakota, northwestern Wyoming, and central Kansas. Barnard, Kansas received 9.8 inches of precipitation; most of it fell on the 9th. Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions remained the same as last week at 42 percent.
