July 7-13, 2025 Summary

Temperature 

Temperatures were below normal for the majority of the region. The lowest temperatures were 4°F to 6°F below normal in southwestern Kansas, and southern and eastern North Dakota, with an area in North Dakota reaching 6°F to 8°F below normal. The highest temperatures were in northwestern Wyoming reaching 6°F to 8°F above normal.  

Temperatures in northwestern Wyoming reached 8°F to 10°F above normal. The hottest temperature was 99°F at Grand Junction, Colorado, which is 4°F above normal for the area. The lowest temperatures were 6°F to 10°F below normal in eastern North Dakota. 

Temperatures in central and eastern North Dakota, southcentral South Dakota, and northeastern Colorado reached 6°F to 8°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 46°F at Alamosa, Colorado, which is 1°F below normal for the area. The highest temperatures were 6°F to 8°F above normal in western Colorado.

Precipitation 

Precipitation varied in the region, ranging from 2 percent of normal in western and central Wyoming, western and southern Colorado, central and eastern Kansas, the Nebraskan panhandle, northwestern and eastern South Dakota, and southwestern North Dakota to 400 percent of normal in southwestern Kansas and northeastern Nebraska. Orchard, Nebraska received 5.4 inches of precipitation; most of it fell on the 8th. Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions decreased from 61 percent to 57 percent. In the region, South Dakota experienced the highest decrease in D0 conditions by 10 percent while Kansas experienced an increase in D0 conditions by 1 percent.

Severe Storms 

Colorado, Kansas, and South Dakota received hail 1 to 2.5 inches in diameter. Wyoming received hail 1 to 2.75 inches in diameter. Nebraska and North Dakota received hail of 1 to 3 inches and 1 to 3.5 inches in diameter, respectively.
