Initial Concept
During the initial concept phase, faculty members develop their course idea, travel dates and destination country. Before putting in the work required to develop a full proposal, faculty members will submit their initial concept for approval by the college by the deadlines below.

Deadlines

See the Course Proposal Page for deadlines.

If the college approves the initial concept, the college's administration will notify the faculty member and the Global Experiences Office. The Global Experiences Coordinator embedded in COJMC will work with the faculty member to develop a full proposal.

Plan & Proposal
During the plan & proposal phase, the faculty member will work with the Global Experiences Coordinator to develop a full program proposal, including a full syllabus, itinerary, on-the-ground partner and budget. The completed plan is due by the deadlines listed on the Course Proposals Page

Upon receipt, the Global Experiences Office will review the application with the Director of Global Safety and Security and will submit feedback to the college. The college will then review and provide the final approval of the proposal.

You can review the proposal outline here. The Global Experiences Coordinator will provide you with the latest outline and instructions for completion.

Recruitment/Prep
During the recruitment/prep phase, the faculty member works with Global Experiences to develop marketing materials and a recruitment plan for students. Global Experiences coordinates student applications and the faculty member reviews and selects student participants. Courses must meet the minimum enrollment requirements established in the proposal.

Program/Logistics
During the program and logistics phase, the faculty member coordinates with the college to provide students with course enrollment information and with Global Experiences to coordinate travel logistics and pre-departure meetings.

Travel
During travel, the faculty member leads in-country activities, monitors the budget and manages unexpected challenges in conjunction with the Global Experiences Coordinator and, when needed, the UNL Director of Global Safety and Security.

Post-Return
After returning from travel, the faculty member will work with the Big Red Business Center to prepare the expense voucher and Global Experiences to survey students about their experiences.
