Broadcasting student Jackie Costilla spent a semester studying in Chicago at Columbia College before coming home to Nebraska. She had promised herself that she wasn't going to take out any loans for college, and after learning more about CoJMC's broadcasting program she made the decision to return home in Lincoln. It was important to Jackie that she get adjusted at UNL before getting involved, and eventually she got to know CoJMC who encouraged her to join clubs, seek internships and be on the look out for opportunities to help her grow. She encourages all transfer students to meet with their advisor because for her it was a safe and comforting place to ask questions about things she felt like her classmates already had answers to.
