Karez Hassan is an academic advisor at the College of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, a role she has held since 2020. In this capacity, Karez advises current and prospective undergraduate and graduate students on academic program planning, assists with retention efforts, teaches first-year experience courses, and supports recruitment activities. She helps students identify and pursue quality experiences such as internships, research, education abroad, and leadership opportunities, fostering their overall well-being and adjustment to university life.

Karez earned a master of arts in educational administration with an emphasis on student affairs from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May 2017. She also holds a bachelor of arts in psychology from the same institution, completed in May 2013.

Before joining the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, Karez served as an academic advisor at the College of Architecture from September 2017 to May 2019. In this role, she advised students on academic plans, provided detailed information about course requirements, and helped students navigate university policies and overcome academic challenges. Prior to that, she was a graduate career advisor at the Career Services Central Office from August 2015 to May 2017, where she provided career advising, facilitated assessments, conducted workshops, and developed relationships with local employers.
