Oluseye Fakinlede

Graduate Teaching Assistant Journalism & Mass Comm University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Oluseye Fakinlede received his bachelor's degree in English and literature from the University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, in 2015. He then earned his diploma in journalism from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Lagos, Nigeria in 2017. Currently, Oluseye is pursuing a master's degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's College of Journalism and Mass Communications (CoJMC).

Oluseye began his journalism career with an internship at the RayPower Radio Station, Alagbado Lagos, as an editorial intern. Following that role, he got another internship at X2D, Lagos, a television station, as a production intern. Oluseye was aso an intern with a local newspaper before getting the role of freelance correspondent, at Owena Press Limited, publisher of the Hope News Paper, Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria.

He worked as a language and literary teacher before his last appointment as a media representative for an education company—a role he held remotely for a year and a half before coming to the U.S. to study integrated media communications at the CoJMC.

Oluseye hopes to acquire the skills and experiences that this graduate program has to offer, which is why he's giving his best, asking questions and unashamedly saying, "I don't know this." He's looking forward to learning about marketing, social media advertising, strategy, brands and branding, and experiencing the multiplicity of things and tools within journalism, advertising and public relations.

Furthering his education has always been Oluseye's goal. He enjoys the liberty journalism brings and teaching as an avenue to give back to society. All these are just the plans, just no hierarchy or scale of preference yet.
