Aerospace eXperimental Payloads

About

The Aerospace eXperimental Payloads (AXP) team is focused on the development, test, and launch of high-altitude payloads. Some of our previous projects include the Undergraduate Student Instrument Project (USIP), RockSat-X, BigRedSat-1, and the Nationwide Eclipse Ballooning Project (NEBP). The team is currently working on a payload for the High-Altitude Student Platform (HASP), which is slated to launch on September 5th, 2025.

The team is also focused on the research and testing of novel perovskite solar cells. These solar cells provide unprecedented energy production for their weight but are still in their developmental infancy. AXP’s continued collaboration with the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) in Golden, CO has provided opportunities to launch cutting edge samples into the troposphere, the stratosphere, and even low-earth orbit.

If you are interested in helping design, build, and test high-altitude payloads and their launch systems, please join! AXP meets on Monday evenings at 6pm. If you are a new member, come meet us at Aerospace Club orientation!
