Once you find and request the item you are looking for in our catalog, we will do everything we can to get the item for you no matter how you submit your request.

But did you know how you request your items can have an impact on how fast and how long you get the item you're requesting?

To view the options below, you must sign in to the catalog with your library card when prompted. Not every option is available for all items.

Requesting Items UNL Owns

 

Requesting a physical copy of an item:

  1. Submit a Request Delivery for the item

  1.  Our staff will pull the item and send an email letting you know when you can pick it up
     

Requesting a portion of a book or article, also known as digitization:

  • If you don't require the entire physical item, you can submit a Digitization Request. We will produce a digital version of what you need and email it to you.

Requesting a physical copy of an item:

  1. If UNL does not have the item available to request, check it's availability from another NU library by clicking on the library listed under the 'Get It From Other NU Libraries' header.

  1. Submit a Request Delivery through the link displayed above the location of the item.
  2. The library holding the item will send it to UNL Libraries
  3. Once we receive the item, we will send an email letting you know when you can pick up the item.

The benefits to requesting items we don't own directly through one of our other NU Libraries:

  • Items are on loan for a longer period of time (til the end of the semester), compared to submitting an interlibrary loan (ILL) request, which is up to the lending library.
  • Requests are sent directly to the library holding the item, making it possible to get the item quicker.

 

Interlibrary Loan Requests for Items Owned by Other Institutions

 

Requesting a physical copy of an item:

  1. Under the Locate/Request It header, select the 'Request book from another library through ILL' option and fill out the form. You will need to have an Interlibrary Loan Account in order to submit ILL requests.

  1. Your request is sent to our staff, who will search for the item through one of our partner libraries and submit a request.
  2. The partner library will fill the request and send it to UNL Libraries.
  3. Our Once we receive the item, we will send an email letting you know when you can pick it up.
