Building Strategic Partnerships in Information Literacy

The development of sophisticated information practices and engagement in informed learning are vital for academic, professional, and personal success and civic participation. The Teaching Partnerships department offers a broad range of teaching and learning efforts aimed at helping learners throughout all stages of their academic career and life. 

The department does this through development of information literacy and research skills classroom instruction and workshops, design of course-based information literacy assignments, creation of virtual/asynchronous learning opportunities, participation in engagement and outreach initiatives, and provision of research assistance and consultation. 

We use a team-based approach to develop instructional materials, share best practices and pedagogical resources, develop and contribute to user experience initiatives, and conduct assessments.  

Learning Outcomes

The Libraries’ learning outcomes, based on the values of our professional organizations and theories of information literacy, provide the foundation of the Libraries’ programmatic teaching and learning-related efforts. Also, these outcomes are guided by larger issues or questions that surround information consumption, handling, and creation.
