Strategic Human Resource Management

Development of an understanding of how human resource decisions, strategies, and practices contribute to business performance and a firm's competitive advantage. The approach to human resource management from a strategic perspective, as it focuses on the relationship between HRM practices and business performance. A general management perspective by focusing on the role of managers and how they can execute effective and ethical human resource practices that support strategic objectives.
Compensation Administration

Design and administration of compensation systems. Deals with determinants of general level of pay, pay structures, wage and salary surveys, job analysis, job evaluation, performance evaluation, benefit plans and financial incentive systems.
Talent Acquisition and Staffing
MNGT 864
This course will explain the process by which organizations forecast employment needs, recruit potential employees, select high potential candidates from applicant pools, assess job performance levels, give feedback, train and develop existing employees, and deal with voluntary and involuntary turnover. Students will be provided with examples of tools used by HR professionals in the staffing process. Students will also be expected to evaluate and suggest improvements to real HR recruiting and selection systems based on the information learned in the classroom.

Government regulation of employment and labor relations. Includes laws and agencies relating to employment practices, pay, hours, equal employment opportunity, labor relations, safety, health, pensions and benefits. Social and economic implications of governmental regulation considered, surveys, job analysis, job evaluation, performance evaluation, benefit plans and financial incentive systems.

Because we accept new students in the fall, spring and summer, you can start earning the certificate when it works best for you.
To apply, you will need to pay a $50 application fee and submit the following:
Upload Supporting Documents
All supporting documents including unofficial transcripts, professional resume, personal statement and three references are uploaded directly via the graduate application.
You are required to submit an unofficial transcript from each post-secondary institution you have attended during the application review process.
Submit Official Transcripts
If you are admitted, you will be required to submit an official transcript sent directly from each institution you have attended to The Office of Graduate Studies. We recommend that you complete this task before your admitted term begins. A hold will be placed on your account if they do not receive your official transcripts by October 1 for the fall term, February 1 for the spring term and July 1 for the summer term. Students will have until that day to submit official transcripts or your admission will be rescinded.
