Juvenile Court Advocacy Fundamentals: Overview for New Attorneys

Launching in 2025 as part of NCJC’s expanded commitment to supporting new juvenile court attorneys, this free 1½-day training provides essential preparation for attorneys entering Nebraska’s juvenile courts. Designed as the best first step for new Guardians ad Litem, parent’s counsel, youth counsel, and prosecutors, the training delivers foundational knowledge, advocacy skills, and practical tools for juvenile court practice.

Participants will engage in interactive large-group sessions and role-specific breakouts covering state and federal law, ethical duties, courtroom skills, and the dynamics of working with children, families, and other stakeholders. NCJC faculty and expert consultants facilitate the program. In addition to covering all training costs, NCJC provides meals and overnight lodging to reduce barriers to participation.
